Here at The Coolector, there are few things we love more than watching a legendary brand completely rewrite the rulebook on design. So, when the brilliant team at Lexus were kind enough to invite us out to Italy to experience their highly anticipated, immersive installation firsthand at the exclusive Press Preview Day of Milan Design Week, we had our bags packed before the email even finished downloading.
Set in the heart of the city’s vibrant Tortona creative district at the iconic Superstudio Più (open to the public from 21 to 26 April), the world premiere of the Lexus “SPACE” exhibition is nothing short of spectacular.

Inspired heavily by their stunning flagship Lexus LS Concept, this year’s central theme, Discover Your Space, explores personal, private environments in a completely unprecedented way, cementing Lexus as a true pioneer of modern luxury.
Driving Into A New Era of Mobility
Ever since the brand’s inception, Lexus has confidently charted its own course, consistently challenging convention and redefining the very principles of luxury mobility. With “SPACE”, they are pushing those boundaries even further.

The installation is deeply shaped by the automaker’s relentless pursuit of going beyond expectations, utilising the LS Concept as a motif to interrogate the true meaning of “space” within the context of a modern luxury lifestyle.

We are currently witnessing a massive transition within the automotive industry. The traditional concept of the car as a mere tool for transportation is rapidly evolving into a new era of mobility that promises freer movement and deeply enriched lifestyles.

Work, personal life, and transit are becoming seamlessly interconnected. In this fast-approaching future, mobility transforms into a profound new experience that reimagines physical space itself.

Experiencing this exhibit firsthand, it is abundantly clear that Lexus is offering a jaw-dropping glimpse into a vision of mobility that the rest of the world has yet to even define.
Discover Together 2026: A Meeting of Minds
Lexus certainly didn’t build this futuristic vision in a vacuum. The Milan presentation also serves as the global stage for four phenomenal new works from Discover Together 2026.

Launched in 2025, this brilliant initiative brings together a curated selection of emerging global creators whose philosophies resonate deeply with Lexus.

Using the Lexus LS Concept vehicle as their shared canvas, these creatives have collaborated directly with the brand to produce highly immersive, experiential works that explore the absolute limits of spatial design.
Global Visionaries Take the Stage
The sheer diversity of talent on display at Superstudio Più is staggering. First up is the Japanese creative duo of filmmaker Kyotaro Hayashi and art director Yumi Kurotani. By delicately weaving together light, sound, and the distinctive textures of physical materials, they have transformed physical space into an emotional narrative.

Their immersive installation isn’t just meant to be quietly observed; it actively invites visitors to sharpen their senses and step directly into the experience, fusing thoughtful design with intuitive aesthetics.

Next, hailing from Italy, is Guardini Ciuffreda Studio. Founded by designer Tiziano Guardini and architect Luigi Ciuffreda, their multidisciplinary team delivered an absolute masterclass in sustainability and material intelligence.

Their design language—defined by organic forms and tactile surfaces inspired by nature—brilliantly dissolves the boundaries between space, fashion, and architecture. Materials become a language, resulting in an installation that must be felt both physically and emotionally.

Bringing a touch of interactive magic to the exhibition is Random Studio, an independent spatial experience design outfit based in Amsterdam and Paris.

Specialising in creative strategy and interactive tech, their team excels at translating abstract ideas into tangible, innovative environments that inspire surprise and actively invite human interaction.
The Pinnacle of Japanese Craftsmanship
Finally, one of the most breathtaking aspects of the entire showcase is a collaborative masterpiece bringing together Lexus’s own in-house designers with legendary master artisans of Japanese craftsmanship. This isn’t just automotive design; it is a profound celebration of heritage.

The installation beautifully integrates intricate Kumiko woodwork (refined over three generations in the foothills of the Suzuka Mountains), masterful stonework from the century-old Inagaki Sekizai-ten, the innovative bentwood techniques of Tendo Mokko, and the peerless handiwork of a WorldSkills Olympics champion wooden model craftsman.

Through the visionary lens of Lexus, these ancient, diverse elements are fused together and elevated into a modern form of art that completely transcends time.

If you happen to be in Milan this April, do yourself a massive favour and head down to the Superstudio Più. The Lexus “SPACE” Exhibition isn’t just a look at a new concept car; it is a mesmerizing, multi-sensory journey into the very future of how we will live, work, and move.
