While those who were invited to attend Frieze London this year no doubt had their eyes trained only on all the magnificent and at-times wacky works being exhibited inside the tents, we at MR PORTER will admit we showed up with a slightly different motive. No, not the parties (OK, maybe some of the parties), but rather the opportunity to observe some of the best-dressed folk on the planet. As it turns out, if you’re looking for sartorial inspiration, turn to the art crowd – visual aesthetes that they are, they typically harbour the same appreciation for colour, detail and self-expression as fashion types, but are generally less beholden to the trend cycle and, more importantly, take it all far less seriously. Case in point: the seven effortlessly stylish strangers we stumbled upon below who we believe could give the folks at Pitti, London Fashion Week and the like a serious run for their money.
